Rainy Days

Every day on the OBX is a good day, even the rainy ones!

The weather can be unpredictable. Rain can last a few minutes, a few hours, or sometimes, the entire day. Some days the sky is beautiful, but the RED FLAG is up! Red day or rain day doesn't mean you can't enjoy the beautiful coastal atmosphere on the OBX.

Rainy Day Tips:

Indoor activities on the OBX:

Things we love to do on a rainy day at The Lookout:

      • Play cards, board games, or put a puzzle together (check the game cupboard - on the left side of the fireplace)
      • Watch a good movie - Blue Ray player is available in the Gathering Room on Level 3 (or login to your personal streaming accounts - don't forget to log out when you leave.)
      • Hang out on the covered porch - (bring some bubbles for the littles)
      • Relax on the hammock swings.
      • Play a jumbo game of checkers (check the outside storage room on Level 1)
      • Play Foosball (located on level 1)
      • Play a game of Jumbo Connect 4 (located in the outside storage room on Level 1)
      • Play a game of Cornhole (located in the outside storage room on Level 1)
      • Read a good book in the ships watch (level 3.5)

It is always better to be prepared for a rainy day. It might even make it your favorite day of the week! Here is a list to get your creative ideas flowing:

        • Bring a favorite cookie recipe and baking supplies to have a monster cookie make off.
        • Create your own spa day - Take a soak in the jet tub (primary bath level 3) or try meditation and end with face masks.
        • Create your own Cocktail/Mocktail
        • Have a talk like a pirate day and plan an indoor treasure hunt.
        • Bring a world map and create a top 10 travel bucklist. (Compare your list with others. Talk about why you made your choices.)
        • Learn something new - bring a book about ocean life, sea birds, or sea shells.
        • Bring supplies to knit or crochet
        • Learn Origami - bring a book and some papers to fold.
